Biography Of Manal Rostom: She is an Egyptian athlete who lives in Dubai and is originally from Alexandria. She competed in three international marathons, including the Dubai Marathon and the China Wall Marathon, as well as a number of local races in her hometown of Alexandria, Egypt.

Manal Rostom made headlines around the world when she was announced as the first veiled Egyptian-Arab woman to be named the face of Nike. Furthermore, she aspires to become the first Egyptian woman to complete all six major marathons and summit all seven major mountain peaks in the same calendar year. Biography Of Manal Rostom: She was born and raised in the Kuwaiti capital of Kuwait City. Her Arab-Egyptian parents do not support her decision to be a hijabi and do not wear the hijab themselves. After surviving a near-fatal car accident at the age of 19, she began to dress in a hijab. Manal began participating in sports at a young age. When she was in high school, she looked up to older girls who participated in after-school sports.

Rostom began her academic career at Kuwait’s New English School, where she graduated with honors. She graduated from secondary school in 1996 with an International General Certificate of Secondary School (IGCSE). Following that, she attended Alexandria University, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2001.


In addition, from 2013 to 2015, Rostom received training as an Advanced Instructor RPM, Sports, and Exercise at Les Mills International. Not only that, but she also received training as a Body Balance Group Instructor at the same institution from 2017 to 2018 in the same field.

Her studies at Alexandria University for a Doctor of Pharmacy – PharmD – Pharmaceutical Sciences continued from 2004 to 2006 and she graduated in 2006.

Biography Of Manal Rostom: She worked as a Clinical Product Specialist from June 2006 to December 2007 before deciding to pursue a career in sports full-time. After that, she went on to work at AstraZeneca, where she stayed for nine years and one month. Over the course of this time, she held positions such as medical representative, executive medical representative, project manager, field sales trainer, and member of the medical scientific liaison team.

January 2017 marked the beginning of Manal Rostom’s motivational speaking career. Since then, she has spoken at a variety of venues, including Facebook HQ, TedX, WACL London and Scotland, and Grow by Facebook.


Manal is currently employed as a Nike Trainer/Freelance Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer in the United States.

Surviving Hijab

Surviving Hijab is a women-only Facebook group that was founded by Manal Rostom in August 2014 to help women cope with their hijab. In order to keep their cover, Surviving Hijab is a powerful network of hijab-wearing women who get together to discuss their problems, fears, and sorrows while also supporting one another.

According to Manal, her motivation for forming the group stemmed from a dark and desperate place in her own life. She was bullied by a culture that made her feel uncomfortable as a result of her personal decision to practice her religion by wearing a scarf over her shoulders.

Today, the Facebook group has more than 600,000 members and is well-known. The ultimate objective is to accelerate the integration of Muslim female athletes in sports throughout the globe, which is now underway. Manal thinks that young female athletes should follow their wildest aspirations, no matter what they are dressed in at the time.

In addition, Manal was invited to Facebook’s GMS conference in April 2018, where she had the opportunity to share ideas with the company’s chief operating officer, Sheryl Sandberg.

Manal Rostom Journey To Nike

In 2017, Nike introduced the Nike Pro Hijab to the market. Since then, the company has made it a priority to raise awareness of Muslim athletes across the globe, particularly in North America. Following the formation of the organization, Manal gained the ability and confidence to write an email to Nike as well as other companies.

Fortunately, her email was received by the right person at the right moment, and she was able to secure the job of her dreams. Manal Rostom became the first hijabi woman to be featured by Nike in order to promote the company’s sports hijab collection.
